Indrayani Rice is grown in the Maval region of Pune and in some areas of Nashik. It is grown through the transplantation process. In this process the Indrayani Rice seedlings are prepared in the nursery and then sown in the main field by the farmers. After this process, it takes around 70 to 80 days for the seedlings to fully come up and get fixed in the field soil. Then within 130 to 140 days the Indrayani Rice becomes ready for harvesting. During Indrayani Rice cultivation SRI ( i.e. System of Rice Intensification) is also used.

All this procedure takes a good amount of time and water as well. In addition to all of that, this rice variety also requires better irrigation facilities to give better results. After harvesting the rice plants go through a beating process.

The special thing about Indrayani Rice is that they remain unpolished, and therefore its nutritional values remain intact and undisturbed. Its husk is equally important as the rice itself. It can easily be identified because of its long grain.
